BROKEN & MENDED

The inspiration behind my Major Project came from the concept of ‘Broken and Mended.’  The project’s imagery came from my research into the Japanese art of Kintsugi, broken skin and scar tissue, and the way in which fabric can be damaged and repaired. I wanted to create a project which showcases the beauty of the imperfect.  I used this collection to show my passion of colour by using a combination of metallics, bright hues and some more neutral tones.

WALKING THROUGH AMSTERDAM

This project was inspired by my favourite European city.  I took imagery from the bridges, canals and the nature I found in the urban setting.  My designs were also heavily inspired by Van Gogh's painterly style both in my prints and my embroideries.  I wanted to create a project that illustrated how much I love Amsterdam, through both my bright colour choices as well as using black faux fur and leather to establish the collection as A/W.
